Management

Margot Myers

Margot is the Director of Education & Training at the Platt Retail Institute. She manages programs to educate both new and established digital signage users on key aspects of digital media including deployment, network management, content development and measurement. The division also works with hardware/software companies and resellers to offer employee training and certification.

Myers was Manager, Retail In-Store Programs for the U.S. Postal Service until January 2009. She joined the Retail Marketing group in December 2002 after 18 years working in postal Public Affairs and Communications. She began her postal career in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1984 as a Public Information Officer. In 1990, she was promoted to Regional Communications Administrator for the Northeast Region and in 1991, moved to Headquarters to manage communications and special events for the Postal Service's sponsorship of the 1992 Olympic Games. She then held several executive positions in Headquarters Communications. Margot also managed media and public relations for the USPS Pro Cycling Team for the first four years the team competed at the Tour de France, including Lance Armstrong's first two Tour victories.

In Retail Marketing, her primary responsibility was managing the messaging and point-of-purchase materials displayed in more than 32,000 Post Offices. During six years in the Retail Marketing group, Myers also managed retail product development and selection; oversaw retail standardization efforts aimed at providing a consistent, reliable retail experience for postal customers; developed retail promotions for employees and customers; and managed retail employee communications.

An early adopter of using technology to enhance communications, she installed and managed an employee-facing communications network in the mid-90s in more than 600 postal facilities. In 2004, she deployed and tested The Post Office Channel, a digital signage network designed to communicate with customers in postal retail lobbies.

Prior to coming to the Postal Service, Margot served for seven years on the staff of U.S. Senator Dennis DeConcini in Washington, DC and Arizona. Margot attended Northwestern University and received a bachelor's degree in management from the University of Phoenix. She also completed executive education programs at the University of Virginia and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Myers is a member of the Advisory Boards for Digital Signage Expo, the Customer Experience Technology World trade show and the Digital Screenmedia Association where she serves as VP for Associate Members and co-chairs the DSA Education and Certification Committee.
